Windows 10: How do I boost or enhance sound on my PC?

How do I boost sound or enhance it on my laptop? I can hardly hear what is being said or any music playing. The volume on this device sounds like everyone is whispering and I've only had it for 2 months!!!PLEASE HELP!!!!

Enhancing sound


I could use some suggestions on how I can boost, enhance, or otherwise manipulate sound on my laptop. I know this system isn't a multi-media hub, although I do have Kodi and Plex installed. When I watch movies on Netflix or a dvd, the sound is rather bland and flat. Need some sort of software based booster/eq. I've asked this question on a few Facebook pages, and folks start suggestion players. That isn't what I'm looking for, don't need a player for Netflix. Suggestions?

 

Sound Quality

One thing that sticks out from looking at your "My Computer" specs. You list "ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)" which suggests you do not have the correct sound hardware driver. Your motherboard has Realtek sound and the first step is to install the Realtek sound drivers. My ASUS also came with Sonic Studio 2 which is a sound enhancement package. Check the ASUS install disc to see if you have something similar.

May not be a speaker problem.

 

No boost option for mic

Right click the Sound icon in the Taskbar

Click Sounds

1. Select the Recording tab.
2. Right-click on Microphone and click Properties.
3. On the Properties window, select Enhancement
   tab and check(enable) the Noise Suppression and
   Acoustic Echo Cancellation feature.
4. Click OK.

If the issue persists, we recommend switching from plugging the Microphone into the back 3.5mm plugin instead of front plugin, or you can disable/enable Microphone by right-clicking the
Microphone on the Recording tab and selecting
Enable.

If you don't see the enhancement tab, then it could be due to the sound card installed on your device. We suggest reinstalling the sound card drivers by following the steps below:

1. On the search bar, type Device Manager and press Enter.
2. Select Sound, video and game controllers.
3. Right-click on the device and click Properties.
4. On the Driver tab, select Uninstall.
5. Click OK.

If that does not work, you likely need to purchase a new sound card for your machine.

After performing the steps above, restart your device and see if the issue still persists.
