Windows 10: How do I boot XP onto an older computer?

Hello,I am trying to boot XP onto a DELL Dimension 8110, but I'm having quite a bit of difficulty.I have tried to boot it from the ISO being burnt onto a disc, but this did not help. I kept getting the 'Diskette 0 seek failure' error, which I fixed by deactivating the non-existent floppy drive.Then I did some diagnostics. I learned that the CD Drive is fine, but on the Hard Drive test I received the error '0F00:0244', which is 'Unrecoverable data error or media is write protected.'So, my questions are:Is my Hard Drive dead? If so, would replacing it solve the issue? andHow else can I boot XP?I

How do I boot XP onto an older computer?

You can't miss the sound of the hard drive. Check the power/reader cables they can get loose as some of the older cables didn't have clips on them. Boot into BIOS browse around to see if the hard drive is listed. Also set your boot order to CD-ROM while you are there and try Legacy boot if it's an option.

 

dual boot xp and ubuntu

I had that problem a few months ago, but dual-booting is really easy. I am currently dual-booting Vista and Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron. If you are unable to get your boot working with this guide, reply to this message, and I will write out a step-by-step guide, but it will involve you already having a partition set out for XP (as in you are not already using your entire hard drive space for XP alone.) Even though I write the guide with experience from Vista, it will work with XP
