Windows 10: How do I bring back the media controls overlay on volume press ?

One thing I missed from moving from windows 10 to 11 was the feature to have the overlay that showed the album art and media controls when you pressed the volume buttons. I have a picture of what I am describing below. Is there a way to bring this back to windows 11 because currently it only shows volume and no album art. Instead, I have to click at the bottom left to get track controls and sea album art.

Get the old style music controls on the lock screen

There is no option to get back the old behaviour. Just press a volume button on your phone. The first press doesn't change the volume, it only brings up the media controls overlay.

The issue with volume control could have happened due to the corrupted or outdated driver. To resolve your issue, we suggest that you follow the 2 methods below:

Method 1: Run the Audio Troubleshooter on the system.



Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Sound. We would suggest you run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your Audio



Refer these steps:

• Press Windows key+X, select Control panel.
• Change the view as an option on the top right to Large icons.
• Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
• Run the playing Audio troubleshooter

Method 2. Uninstall and reinstall the latest drivers from the manufacturer website.

Follow the steps to update the audio drivers:

• Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Expand the Sound, Video and game controllers.
• Right-click on the Sound card and click on Uninstall.
• Install the latest audio driver from the manufacturer website.

Volume and media overlay is missing

Contrary to popular opinion, I use my media overlay a lot. I really like it. After a recent restart of my computer, it disappeared. The volume change buttons (as well as the brightness ones) still work, the overlay is just gone. Google has told me that
most people have this issue because of virtual sound cards, but I don't have any of those as far as I am aware. My computer is a Microsoft Surface Pro, and I'm running Windows version 10.0.19041, if that helps at all.
