Windows 10: How do I cast a video from my PC to my TV with an external subtitles file?

I have a movie on my PC that I want to cast to my Samsung TV. They are both connected on the same network, and I am able successfully cast the video to the TV. However, I also have a subtitles track that I want to be able to select. How can I cast the video with the option to select subtitles as well?

Cast to device with external subtitle (SUB,SRT)

I came across this thread because I actually wanted to turn my subtitles off, not sure how they got there, I'm assuming it's part of the movie file (.mkv). If I have a movie on my desktop and I cast to my Sony Android TV, it displays subtitles. I don't
need them but there was no option on the cast to device window or the movie file itself to disable the subtitles. But on my TV's remote there's a "Subtitle CC" button that I press and it lists either English or Off on my TV so I can turn them on/off. With
this being said, maybe it's a matter of ensuring the file being cast includes the subtitles opposed to a movie file + subtitle file. Also, make sure the device being casted to is able to decode what's necessary.

• I use Cast To Device option from Windows 10 pop-up menu (right click on the mp4 file) . I have also tried from within WMP directly: Start play, Go To Library, choose Cast To - but no subtitles on the TV.
• TV can play subtitles normally. If I play a movie from USB memory stick it goes fine.
• File format is .mp4

The other day I found on the Internet sort of
workaround: a guy has found on his VAIO laptop VCagent.exe program that blocks port 9999, thus subtitles, and solved the problem. But I cant find something like that on my Toshiba Satellite.

All the players play subtitles (VLC, WMP, MPC-HC x64) except Movies & TV player that came with Windows 10.

I found the answer for display external subtitle file using Windows 10 "Film & TV" app.

The trick is to add the video folder into "Film & TV" app

• Launch "Film & TV" app
• On the main screen, add the folder where you have the video by clicking on "+ Add folders"
• This can be the parent folder of the video, and the app will scan through all the sub-directories in it (it will take some time)
• Wait for the video scanning process to finish
• Scroll all the way down to "All videos" to see a list of video files it recognize (if it doesn't recognize, then subtitle won't work)
• Single click on the video to start playing
• To confirm it picks up the subtitle file, click on "Show menu for subtitles and sound" which is a subtitle icon next to the volume button on lower left

I named my subtitle file to the same name of my mp4 (I haven't tested other movie format)

After that is setup, then playing the video from Windows Explorer (double click) or from "Film & TV" will pick up the subtitile file
