Windows 10: How do I change active window color on high contrast mode in Windows 11?

I am using windows 11 and created my own high contrast theme. For some reason, regardless of which colors I choose, windows adds a different color to the active window. Is there a way to change this?

File Explorer Selective High Contrast mode

Hello Kacson, my name is Paul one of the community experts. I am sorry that you are having issues with your visual settings that is stuck in High Contrast Mode.

Kindly try these steps to check if it can resolve the issue.

Way 1: Turn High Contrast off via keyboard shortcut.

Press left Shift+left Alt+Print Screen to instantly turn it off.

Way 2: Turn off High Contrast through changing the theme.

Step 1: Enter theme in the search box and click Change the theme in the result.

Step 2: Choose a new theme from the offered themes excluding the High Contrast themes.

Way 3: Turn High Contrast off in High contrast settings.

Step 1: Type high contrast in the search box and tap High contrast settings in the result.

Step 2: Click the High Contrast theme (i.e. High Contrast #1, High Contrast #2, High Contrast Black or High Contrast White), choose None in the pop-up list and then hit Apply.

Active window change color always

The feature you had in Windows 7 to change the background of an active window is deprecated from Windows 10. However, upon researching and experimenting on our lab machines, I see that, you can achieve the similar kind of effect by doing the
following steps:

• Open Settings and choose
  Ease of Access.
  
• Click on High Contrast on the left pane and
  enable it.
  
• Choose a theme, and under select a colored rectangle to customize high contrast colors,
  click on Background.
  
• Drag the slider to your desired color and set it.
  

Note: The drawback here is, you cannot retain your desired theme.



Meanwhile, I suggest you to log a feedback about the same in the
Feedback Hub , so that our developer team can have a look into it
and implement the same in the future updates.
