Windows 10: How do I change file explorer to stay in the folder link I have selected rather than...

Since upgrading to Windows 11, when I open my file explorer to look for a file or go to a directory where I know a file exists, it reverts highlighting and selecting 'one drive'. IF I selected the wrong folder and want to look at the next folder, I can't just look at the list on the left, I have to scroll all the way to the origin folder, and if there is a 2 level down of folders, it is practically impossible to get to on just with 2-3 clicks, because the folder doesn't stay open and ready, I have to repeat the process because the highlighted selection defaults back to 'one drive' For exampl

The issue that you’ve encountered regarding the File Explorer may be caused by some configuration or files mismatched. To sort out your concern, we suggest that you reset the folder settings from the
Folder Options. This will reboot the folder’s preferences to its default state and remove any possible software conflict. To do this, you may follow these steps:

• Click Start, type File Explorer, and press
  Enter.
• On the File Explorer window, click the View tab > Options > Change folder and search options > View.
• Under the Folder views section, click Reset Folders, and then select
  Yes to confirm.
• Once you’re done, click OK, and then check if the issue persists.

Note: This process will remove the list of files that you recently opened.

Files in File Explorer are not selected

Prior the issue File Explorer kept a selected file selected. I could select a file, then open it, save etc. without having to click on the mouse. Currently folder settings
in File Explorer have changed because the file I have opened is not stayed selected anymore. I have to click the mouse to select it again

In answer to your query, yes, there's an option to change the Folder View Options of your File Explorer. To do so, follow these steps:

• Open File Explorer.
• Click File tab.
• Select Change folder and search options.
• Click View tab.
• Under Advanced settings, scroll down to Navigation pane.
• Check Expand to open folder, Show all folders, and
  Show libraries.

You can also check all the options, and set it up the way you wanted.
