Windows 10: How do I change me user name under C: users to match my other computers? After I installed SSD.

After I installed SSD in 6year old computer the user name in directory under C: users is a different name than my other 3 computers. I need to change it to match them.

Change user name on c drive to match administrator name.

I just bought a new laptop as the hard drive on my old one died. It had two users, “John” and “Jane”. The computer store where I bought the new laptop named it John, but I want it to be Jane. I changed the administrator name to Jane and that works, however when I go to c /users it still list John: for example c/users/John and I want to change that to c/users/Jane. I have not been able to figure out how to change the user name to agree with the user name on the c drive. Could someone please explain how you do that on windows 10? Thank you.

@Aguden ... Mine is setup through a Microsoft Account, so it assigns the first 5 characters as the internal or "local" account name. You can go to your Account Management online and edit the "display" name you would like to see. Although the directories will remain as the internal name ("C:\Users\dhubb" in my case..."C:\Users\agude" in your case), the display name will be whatever you choose....

The internal name stayed the same.
