Windows 10: How do I change my 9 year old son from administrator to standard user?

Hi, my 9 year old son received his first laptop for Christmas and set himself up as an administrator. I have since realised that this allows him to override parental controls etc, so have added myself as an administrator. However, this does not give me the option to change his account back to a standard user. I can see other family members' accounts, and can see an option to change their account type, but that option is not there for my son. Is it because his was the first account to be set up on this laptop?How do I rectify this - delete his account? If so, will he lose data etc? Thanks

• Did you change your account to a Microsoft Account?
• Which email ID did you provide to change your account to a Microsoft Account?
• Do you get two different accounts in the login screen?

I suggest you to enable the built-in Administrator account from the steps provided below and manage the account from the built-in admin account.

• Press Windows key + X and select Command Prompt (Admin).
• Type the below command:

Net user administrator active:yes

3. Restart the computer and login to the built-in Administrator account.

4. Change the account type which is turned as a Child Account.

5. Sign-out from the built-in administrator account and login to the other account which is made as the Administrator and check for status.

After creating a new Administrator account, disable the built-in Administrator account by following the steps below:

• Press Windows key + X and select Command Prompt (Admin).
• Type the below command:

Net user administrator active:no

Standard user allow to change time

Hello,

I suggest you to change the account type from Standard to Administrator and check if it works.

Here are the steps:

Login to your Admin account.

In search type User Account and hit enter.

Click on Manage another account.

Select your Standard user account and click on change the account type.

From this page select Administrator and click on Change account type.

After doing this switch user from Admin account to Standard user account and try to change the date and time.
