Windows 10: how do I change my laptop location is wrong

How do I change my laptop location is wrong. I'm in Arizona and when I find something near me it goes to California

my pc location is showing the wrong location

I have the same issue. it lists our location at our old house we left 3 months ago.

it's fine using our phones (which have internal GPS), but all our PC's are showing the wrong location.

we have 1 on windows 10 and 1 on windows 11, both are wrong.

they are wrong in edge and chrome.

they are wrong in the weather apps and anything which uses the location.

I have followed the common steps of setting the location, of refreshing dns, or ip, I've changed all entries to location I can find.

even on websites to try to find a local branch, it suggests them near our old house.

Have just spent an hour on the phone with our ISP (EE) who have nothing more to suggest!

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if that helps.

Method 1

Firstly, I suggest you to check the region settings. Refer to the steps below:

• Press Windows key +W.
• Type Region & click on Region & language settings.
• Check if the region selected in correct.

Method 2

Turn off and on the Location settings. Refer to the steps below:

• Press Windows key + W.
• Type Location and click on Location settings.
• Turn Off and then turn the location On and check if issue persists.

Method 3

Ensure that Date and Time set correctly and check the issue status.

• Press Windows key + W and type Date and Time.
• Select Set Date and Time.
• Click on Change Date and Time Button to change date and time.
• Click on Change Time Zone button to change Time Zone
• Save the changes and check the issue status.

Method 4

Synchronize their system clock with Internet Time and check if it helps.

• Click the Date and Time display on the Task bar followed by Change date and time settings.
• Click on Internet time tab.
• In the Internet Time Settings window, mark the check box with label as Synchronize with an internet time server and specify the server name.
• Save the changes by clicking on Ok.

win11 gets wrong location in my laptop

My laptop with win11 started getting wrong location yesterday. It shows that I'm in India while I'm in Taiwan. And it causes the timezone to follow the wrong location as well.

My laptop:

Version Windows 11 家用版(home)

Version 22H2

installed at ‎2023/‎2/‎19

OS 22621.3593

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1003.0

More information:

• There's no default location in my windows settings.
  
• There is no VPN nor third-party anti-virus in my computer.
  

Here are the things I've tried:

• I use Windows Map to find out the system assumed I'm in India.
  
• Using Firefox to open Google Map gets the same wrong location while using Chrome gets the right location.
  
• I have cleared the location records in both my windows settings and in https://account.microsoft.com/ .
  
• I have turned on and off my location service in windows settings.
  
• I've tried to connect to my home WIFI and my mobile hot spot. In both situations, https://ipgeolocation.io/ shows I'm in Taiwan but the system stills gets the wrong location.
  
• I tried to follow the instruction here https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...ncorrect/5f893347-59db-4a7d-b062-3d8cc62ff60a , but there's no trouble shooting for location in my computer.
