Windows 10: How do I change my local account name without changing my Microsoft account?

As I understand it, you are required to use your actual name for your Microsoft account.I do not want my administrator account to have my actual name, and I do not want to change my Microsoft account. Is there a way to do this?

Since you have already changed the name on your Microsoft account, we suggest switching into a local account, and then log back in with your Microsoft account. This way, we can be sure that any changes made to your Microsoft account will be synced to your
local user account.

For steps on how to switch to a local account:

• Click on Start.
• Click on Settings.
• Click on Accounts.
• Under Your account, click on Switch to a local account.

To switch back to a Microsoft account:

• Follow steps 1-3 above to get to Accounts.
• Under Your account, click on Sign in with a Microsoft account instead.

I do not know what the reason might be.

I suggest you create a new account and make that an MSAccount instead.
Add Local Account or Microsoft Account - TenForumsTutorials
Change to Admin account type- TenForumsTutorials - if desired

To change your login settings from local account to Microsoft account, please follow the steps below:

• Click on Start menu and select Accounts.
• Select Your email and accounts and click on Sign in with a Microsoft account instead.
• Type the details for your Microsoft Account.
• Reboot the PC for the changes to take effect.
