Windows 10: How do I change the screen from tablet mode to desktop?

my computer is set on tablet mode and I want it back on desktop mode

After windows update desktop stuck on tablet mode.

  Did the issue started after installing any Particular Windows Update? If yes, please provide the KB number of the Windows Update?
  

To find the KB number of the Windows update
please follow the steps below:

• 
  Press Windows + I key.
  
• 
  From the window select Update & Security.
  
• 
  Click on Windows Update.
  
• 
  Click on Advanced Options.
  
• 
  Click View your update history.
  

I would suggest you to try changing the mode and check if it helps.

Please follow the steps below to change the mode:

• 
  On the bottom right of the task bar click on
  open Notification Center.
  
• 
  From the notification menu, if Tablet mode is highlighted click on the
  Tablet mode.
  
• 
  This will help it to get back to Desktop mode.

No virtual desktops in Tablet mode?

I think you summed it up pretty much in your own words, but I would also add that if you look at what happens when you go into tablet mode, I get the feeling that they both wanting a tablet user to feel "at home" (working the way them might expect on a tablet)
and also taking into account devices that might have small screens.

When you are in tablet mode mostly you work with one application for the whole screen. So there would be very little difference between switching "desktops", and applications. Now you can split the screen and get two applications on it, so there is some
merit in having virtual desktops for that. You will also notice that tablet mode restricts the splitting of the screen to two, not like the 4 for snapping in desktop mode. Clearly they seem to be targeting touch friendly arrangements, and smaller screens.

So yes you are correct, there are no virtual desktops in tablet mode, and there is nothing to "fix".

If all you want is the full screen Start, you can change that under:

Settings -> Personalization -> Start -> Use Start full screen

You can also use the Windows Feedback app to suggest virtual desktops in tablet mode.

Just search for Feedback.

 

Start screen option in tablet mode

I'm not trying to change the colour(s), I am saying that the screen is to singularly coloured compared to the Start screen layout in Windows 8. The question I have is in relation to the list/pane/console whatever it be dubbed on the left hand side, this opens up when you hit the hamburger menu at the top left it shows essentially the left side of what is on the start menu if you are in desktop mode. Is it possible to have these details always show on the tablet mode desktop.
