Windows 10: How do I change username\e-mail address on an existing Microsoft account?

Earlier last year I had to set up a family member's laptop, including of course a Microsoft account. She did not have a personal e-mail account and I just used mine, as at that point I had a company laptop that was linked to the company's Microsoft account with my company e-mail address. Later in the year I left the company, bought a personal laptop and had to set that up. I used my same personal e-mail account, as I had forgotten that I used my e-mail address for the set-up of the other laptop. When I logged on the day after setting up my laptop, my entire desktop layout had been changed.

I recently changed my e-mail address and then logged into my Microsoft account. The administrator account still shows my old e-mail address under my account name. How to I change my old admin account e-mail address with my new e-mail address?

How can I change username in the e-mail account settings in Windows 10

Recently the username for my e-mail account (let's say it is *** Email address is removed for privacy ***) changed from the format "myname%mydomain.com" to "*** Email address is removed for privacy ***". Because one of the credentials (username/password) changed, when the Windows Mail now tries to pull the messages from
the mail server using the old credentials, the login fails, and it receives an error. When I try to use the e-mail/calendar account manager in Settings, it allows me to change the password but not the username - that is greyed out and cannot be edited. I cannot
afford to delete the old account and create a new one because I would loose all of my old e-mail messages currently stored in it under the old account, but not on the mail server anymore. I have two questions:

1) how can I change username credentials in my existing e-mail account settings?

2) what can be the reason that Microsoft does not want me to do it?

I found a number of postings dealing with the same problem (e.g. Redirecting) but no answers. This should
have nothing to do with my Windows Account.

 

Changing e-mail address

Oh, I'm sorry, but I think I've put it in wrong words. I didn't mean changing my e-mail address for receiving e-mails. Instead, I meant changing e-mail address linked to Microsoft and Windows. Here's what I mean:

I have an e-mail address A linked to Microsoft and to the account on my PC with Windows. I'm sure that changing the e-mail address on Microsoft wouldn't be an issue. But if I want to change the e-mail address of my Windows account from A to B, then how should I do that without losing data? By "data" I mean the files I have on my PC. Like documents, images etc. In that case would I have to change my e-mail address on Microsoft account from A to B first or should I do that with the Windows account?
