Windows 10: how do I change Windows Explorer's sorting options?

Hi,


At some point, my Downloads folder began listing items in subsections, such as:


----A------

A1

A2

A3


----B------

B1

B2

B3


----C----

C1

C2


I don't know why it started doing this. I want my Downloads folder to list things with no subsections. I want it to display like:


A1

A2

A3

B1

B2

B3

C1

C2


At some point, I adjusted an option which changed everything to display the way I want. However here it is today, displaying everything under subsections: I do not want any subsections.


How do I turn these subsections off, and make my Downloads folder look like every other folder I use?

Sorting with File Explorer.

I tried the method that was complicated (3rd option) but fell over in second step as I could not find any "apply to folder button"'.

However, the simple put *.* in search bar, then sort results windows by date does the trick. It is slightly cumbersome as I have to do that each time I am selecting files (to upload to sharepoint) but a lot less hassle than I was having to scroll up and down between sorted file block and sorted folder block.

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Sorting in WMP and Windows 10

Please note that the data will be displayed depending on the sorting options that you have selected. If they are sorted by their name, then you will be able view them in that order and same goes for date and other sorting options. Also the sorting
settings for Windows media player and File explorer are different. You can change the sorting options by following steps mentioned below:

For File explorer:

1. Open File Explorer.
   
2. Then click on View.
   
3. Then click on Sort by and choose a desired option.
   

For Windows Media Player:

1. Open Windows Media Player.
   
2. Then click on Organize.
   
3. Then click on Sort by and choose a desired option.
