How do I clean up a messed up FileHistory

This is a little complicated. It involves the File History option of Windows 10. As I understand it, the File History copies the files to a backup media and makes a corresponding 'support file' that points to the backup copy of the file. My problem is I messed this up and want to see if there is a way to delete the 'support files' without deleting the backup files.

My mess up happened then I was when I was trying to clean up the backup media, getting rid of duplicate entries. I didn't realize how the File History actually worked, or even the existence of the 'support files' until after I had already moved everything around. Note that I had moved the backup files out of the FileHistory folder.

So, is there any way I can safely delete the 'support files' without also deleting the backup files?

    Thank you

I hate the right hand side of this system, I wish the GPUs PCIe plugs were on the cards ends and not the top..
