Windows 10: How do I clean up the desktop right-click/new popup menu?

At least 3/4 of the options are totally useless for me yet I have to sift through them every time I use it.

How do I get rid of Microsoft Database (listed twice!), bit image, contact, Microsoft PowerPoint presentation, and Microsoft publisher document.


If I cannot get rid of them, can I shift the others to the top? Actually, I would prefer all popup menus to list the most used on the top of the list automatically.

Desktop Right-Click Popup Menu gone

After installing Insider Preview Build 10547, I have lost the ability to Right-click a blank portion on the desktop and to open a popup menu.

This happens if you right-click the desktop and click View ( or Appearance, my Windows 10 is not English ) on the popup menu that opens, and then uncheck Show desktop items. After that you lose right-click popup menu.

You can right-click on the Taskbar. You can right-click on the start button. You can right-click any icons on the system tray. But you cannot right-click a blank portion on the desktop. This wasn't so in the previous builds, I believe.

Now I cannot revert the changes because the right-click popup menu is gone. And I do not know any other place where I can click Show Desktop Items.

EDIT: I have another desktop with Windows 10 Build 10240. Here I unchecked Show desktop items. But I can still right-click the desktop and popup menu pops up. The following screenshot is from Windows 10 Build 10240.

 

Feature suggestion: Add right-click menu

Suggestion: Please add a Windows 7 Jump-List and/or right-click menu to the GPU-Z icon in the Windows taskbar. Possible menus in it would be "Exit" and "About GPU-Z...".
Maybe also "Switch to tab 1/Switch to tab 2/Switch to videocard 1/Switch to videocard 2" too.
Examples of programs that have such menus are ICQ, Skype, AIM.

NOTE: It seems for a right-click menu, Windows 7 is not needed - it works on WinXP and Vista too.
But even a Windows 7 Jump-list may be good enough.
What do you think?

 

Desktop Right-Click Popup Menu gone

I already tried SFC /SCANNOW knowing it would not help because I believe this is not a file corruption. This is a normal setting change which any user can do. Therefore, SFC did not help.

I always hide desktop icons. This is my standard setting. When I upgraded my Insider Preview 10532 to 10547, I lost desktop right-click immediately and I informed MS about this when I was asked to answer how much I liked this build right after installation
completed. But at that time I did not know what caused desktop right-click menu loss.

I first thought this was a faulty installation by my side.

Then I tried to regain right-click menu because I add several useful entries to desktop right-click menu. Without it computer usage is a pain. But I could not find a setting in Registry or elsewhere that would help me regain control.

I always have another local admin user on the computer for safe computing practices. I never use it. I switched to it and saw to my surprise that desktop right-click menu was popping up there. So I immediately deleted my faulty account, which is an MS account, and
created another one. So I regained my desktop right-click menu.

You know the first thing I do is hide desktop icons. As soon as I did it in my shiny new account, I lost desktop right-click menu again. That is how I know right-click menu popup depends on Show desktop icons being checked. I both sent feedback to MS and
wrote on this reputable MS forum.

Thanks again for your taking the time to answer. I still do not know if this is a glitch or a bug in build 10547 or not.
