Windows 10: how do i connect my cannon mf8280cw scanner to my computer

my printer is connected to my pc but the scanning option is not. how do i connect

Although these steps fixed the problem, the fix didn't last. When I went to use the scanner a week or so later and after rebooting each day, the scanner would not connect. I get "Establishing a connection with WIA Cannon MF4320 - 4350", but it never connects.
I can't close the popup window or the Windows Fax and Scan program unless I open Task Manager and "End Task" for the Windows Fax and Scan application. I brought up Devices and Printers window. I right click on the Cannon device which is the default printer
and left click on properties. A Cannon properties window opens. It shows a Device Function box with 8 items listed as follows:

HP All-In-One computer detecting printer portion of my Cannon MP560 All-In-One printer/scanner, but not the scanner portion. It worked on my old Acer via Windows Fax and Scan software, but it was using Windows 10 and could not be upgraded. Ant suggestions?

I have a cannon mp240 printer scanner. I can print files from my laptop with windows 10 but I cannot scan when I'm connected to my laptop, is there a fix?
