Windows 10: How do I connect to the internet via bio without Ethernet port?

How do I connect to the internet via bios? I have a Dell laptop Inspiron 7306 2n1 & had accidentally deleted my windows operating system. I’ve gotten a usb drive & just need it to connect to the internet to hopefully repair the corrupt OS image but i can’t seem to connect to the internet through bios the only thing i can access rn which i need to do. My laptop doesn’t have an ethernet port so how do i get around this? I don’t think buying an ethernet adaptor will help since the usb needs to be plugged in while the ethernet cord is. i’m not sure though. please help

Apologies for the late reply.



Since you are able to connect to the internet wirelessly it is just the wires connection which has issues.

It could be either wire which has problems or Ethernet port.

Before you change either of these I suggest you to try the following steps:

Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter.

a. In search Type “Troubleshooting” without quotes in the search box and hit Enter.

c. Select “View all” option from the left panel.

d. Select “Internet Connections” from the list and follow On-screen instructions.

Ethernet connection/port on my laptop

Thanks for the suggested solution which I tried. My feedback:

• Update download was completed but installation did not complete and the message popped up that stated that update is not compatible and cannot be installed.

• What is the make and model of your laptop?

• Are you experiencing the same issue even when you are using another Ethernet cable?
  • yes, tried different cables
  • (also same ethernet cable & connection works on my mac notebook)
• Have you made any changes to your computer setting before this issue occurred?
  • Can't say with certainty about changes, if any, made. Normally i don't fiddle with the laptop systems.
  • ethernet port was working just fine and suddenly became dsysfunctional about two weeks back.
  • Checked Network adapters in the device manager which highlights Killer E2200 Gigabit Ethernet Controller with a yellow mark. Also checked network adapter driver which states that installed driver is the latest.

 

Fibre router won't connect to Internet on Ethernet ports

I have just changed ISPs and now have a VDSL router instead of ADSL. Before the change everything was fine. In my setup I have a router with wifi and ethernet ports. Two ports are used: one goes to a network switch and is then spilt around the house by
CAT5; and one connects to a ReadyNAS Linux box file store which is also running Logitech Media Server to serve up music and Internet radio to my Squeeze Players. My problem is that, although wifi is fine, when I plug my laptop in by its Ethernet port, all
Internet access fails. In addition, all Internet radio served up by the LMS also fails. Internet radio connected by wifi to Logitech's remote server is fine. LAN traffic to the NAS is also fine. It's there a router setting that could block Internet traffic
via Ethernet that still allows wifi Internet to work fine. Thanks
