Windows 10: how do I correct this error--pages aren't loading, cannot access yahoo email

This issue had been plaguing me for awhile now--pages are not loading. I've checked my network connection, I did a sfc /scannow, I've run a chk disk for C drive. I've run DISM.exe Have reinstalled my system- in place installation. I am stymied. I've also checked my firewall -and Mozilla Firefox has access. Don't know what else to do. I thought of reinstalling windows 10, but I really don't want to have to do that.Any feedback would be appreciated..I have a HP with windows 10 and am running out of options. One thing that might mess with my system is that I use a vpn. Malwarebytes pri

Yahoo email server error on one acct but not other w/ same settings

Yahoo sent out this announcement to those using 3rd party apps. You may just need to delete and recreate the 3rd party app account making sure you have access to the web with cookies enabled, where during the log on a Yahoo sign on page will appear for a password.

Head’s up: As of 20 October 2020, Yahoo Mail will no longer support third-party applications (such as third-party email, calendar, or contact applications) using outdated sign-in methods. That just means if you’re still signing in to your Yahoo account via another email application, like the default email application on your phone, you need to make some quick updates to ensure your mailbox isn’t interrupted.

Here are your options:

Option 1: We recommend that you access your email using our free Yahoo Mail app for iOS and Android or simply go to mail.yahoo.com to access Yahoo Mail on the web.

Option 2: Keep your current, non-Yahoo app, BUT follow a few steps to get it to sync with our secure sign-in method. The steps vary across different email applications, but in most cases, you will have to remove your Yahoo account from the app and then add it back again to update the sign-in security. Use the links below to follow the specific steps for your current application:

• iOS Mail
• Gmail
• Samsung Mail
• Others

Option 3: You can generate a one-time, unique password that will allow you to sign in to your account using your non-Yahoo email application. Can't access Yahoo and Yahoo email

Might be remnants of a total worldwide outage that started last night at 2am EST lasting 6+ hour for both yahoo.com and mail.yahoo.com. According to this graph some people are still being effected.

This may not help but certainly worth a try, I've moved to Firefox, tried Edge for maybe a year, it just continued to be not ready for prime time. AFAIK you still can't set a new tab to open as the active window in the foreground. MS has made browsers for years and Edge seems amateurish and clumsy, they made this one for touch devices.

FF is most like IE which was my preferred browser. Anyway, a link to thread is below and a quote of the post within that thread with the workaround.
