Windows 10: How do I create a blank virtual desktop in windows 11 - I cannot create a new blank desktop...

I want to create a new desktop. A blank one per se where I can switch from my normal work desktop to a special operation apps desktop, clean of clutter. I read, I read Uncheck Desktop Icons. That works great, but it makes all of the desktops turn off the icons. I only want the icons off on the new desktop.How do I do that?Dave

The feature's main purpose is to allow you to organize your open applications/windows more effectively, rather than providing entirely separate desktop spaces.

To address your desire for a completely blank workspace, consider the following steps:

Hide Desktop Icons: If it's the desktop icons that you wish to not see on the second desktop, you can simply hide all desktop icons.

Right-click on the desktop.

Hover over "View."

Uncheck "Show desktop icons."

Remember, this action will hide the icons across all virtual desktops, so you'd need to toggle this setting when you switch between them.

Wallpaper: If you want a different wallpaper for a fresh feel, unfortunately, as of my last update in January 2022, Windows doesn't natively support different wallpapers for different virtual desktops. However, there are third-party software options that can provide this functionality.

Task View & Virtual Desktops: To ensure you're creating new virtual desktops correctly:

Click on the Task View button on the taskbar (or use the Win + Tab keyboard shortcut).

Click on the + New Desktop button at the top left.
