Windows 10: How do I create and pin a missing system Desktop folder and only see that desktop?

Background: Personal choice I'm not a fan of cloud, so, based on MVP guidance here on this forum, I have removed all traces of OneDrive. Now, I have done this in the past with Windows 10 with no issue. However, Windows 11 is less user friendly and restrictive. So, here is my problem.Problem: I have no local system Desktop folder. I thought I could simply create a Desktop folder and did, but it is not technically a "system folder". When I created and named it, the folder Desktop icon updated, but I cannot get it to pin to the HOME or Quick Access. After capturing some screen shots, this folde

pin Facebook and Tumblast app to desktop?

I have downloaded the Facebook and Tumblast apps to my Windows 10 computer and when I right click on them in the list of apps, I can pin them to the start menu and the taskbar, but not the desktop. Is there any way to pin them to the desktop or create a
shortcut? I **don't** want it create a shortcut that opens FB and Tumblr in my browser. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Desktop is missing

OK, you are on to something! I tried creating a new folder named DESKTOP per your suggestion in Robda user account and Windows asked me if I wanted to merge with another folder named MUSIC. Yes I said MUSIC. Then I noticed that I somehow have 2 folders named MUSIC in user account Robda. When I open one of the music folders, all of my Desktop files are there! So should I simply rename the incorrect Music folder to DESKTOP?

 

Rename, pin to desktop

I'm growing to like Windows 10 more than I expected, despite the tiles rather than collapsible folders. It's even nice that the alphabetical list of apps makes having many folders for rarely used items less necessary. But I'd still have feedback.

First, the left half of the start menu, now that you can't add things to it, is underused. (You can have frequently used programs, but that just replicates the desktop.)

Second, dragging from the alphabetic list, as opposed to pinning to start or creating a desktop shortcut, just isn't reliable. That's a serious weakness since typical users won't be comfortable creating a desktop shortcut, meaning browsing the hard disks
and program files.

Third and maybe most pressing to me, the difficulty of renaming tiles is just plain dumb, when a right click could easily enable it. Sure there are work arounds, with creating a desktop shortcut (see my gripe above) and only then pinning it to start. But
why, when surely they'll fix this in an update. It's so obviously dumb that I'm not going to try tailor it on my computer.

Let me suggest that all these can be subjects of updates. Oh, and the plain white for the top bar of applications, so that it's no longer set off from the rest, is a design change I'd just as soon be able to control.

But overall, not nearly as bad an experience as I'd expected. I may even start to like it. jh
