Windows 10: How do I deal with a file that can not be removed from my desktop?

I'm trying to remove a folder on my desktop that contains what appears to be internet explorer applications. However, every time I try to move or delete the folder I get a message saying that I do not have administrative control to do so. I've tried changing ownership to Users so I can give myself full control, and it appears that part works, but it still gives me the error when I try to remove the file. How do I get rid of this file? Surely there must be a way to remove this eyesore.

windows 10 deleted my desktop files

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

• Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
• Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
• Click on Users, select your User name
• Go to desktop folder

Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.

 

Remove account


I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
To delete an account, follow these steps:

1. Press WIN + X keys and click Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
2. Type the following command and press Enter. Replace test with the name of your sister's account. Code:

or just open regedit and remove all the fileX from that key.
