Windows 10: how do I delete scrolling shortcuts and ads on my MSN home page. Takes up so much room

My MSN home page has scrollling ads RtoL AND shortcuts to apps, under them, and they take up so much room on the page. I can't even see the whole MSN news without scrolling up and down. I don't know how else to explain it. Also, I tried to remove the big BING search strip which is there, too, but it is still there. Please help me. Thanks so much .

Stop MSN as Home Page

I found out how to do this. I have tried different versions on changing settings and home pages and discovered when you try to set a new home page, what Windows 10 does is to add the new address as a tab at the top of the page but still opens with MSN. What the sites have not said is that the MSN address is still there and is top in the list. It is an address that has the word about in it. It would not let me move that address to the bottom of the list and the only way I got my Google homepage that I wanted was to click on the X to the right of the about address and delete it. Now when I open up, my desired home page comes up and I don't have to look at MSN's bias headlines.

 

Adding shortcut to desktop from web page

Follow the steps below to create shortcuts of websites on the Desktop:

• When you are viewing a website, right click on the web page and select the Create Shortcut option. The shortcut will be placed on the Desktop.
• You can also right click the Desktop and select New/Shortcut. In the Location Box, paste the URL to the website.
• Click Next and Name the shortcut and Click Finish.
• You can also drag the Icon at the left end of the Address Bar and drop it on the Desktop, when viewing a website to create a shortcut.

Room Calendar Deleted

For those of you who are Room members getting the error message "The calendar for this room has been deleted", did you set the Room's calendar to be your 'primary calendar' in Hotmail.com or Outlook.com by any chance? There's a known issue where
this error can occur if the Room calendar is set as the 'primary calendar' on the web.

To check and change your primary calendar on the web, try this:

• In a web browser, go to Outlook – free personal email and calendar from Microsoft and log in with your Microsoft account.
• Click Options, and locate the setting for Primary Calendar.
• Is the Primary Calendar that's set the Room's calendar? If yes, change the primary calendar to be a different calendar and click Save.
• Sync your phone by going to Settings > Email+Accounts, tap and hold your Microsoft account and tap Sync. Then, check to see if your Room is still showing that error message on the calendar pivot.

Note: some users also found it necessary to rename their Room on the phone in order to force a re-sync with the calendar. If the steps above don't work for you try renaming the Room temporarily. To do this, go into the Room, tap [...] and tap Rename.
