Windows 10: How do I determine the order of "Sort by Type"?

In my old PC when I chose "sort by type" the order would group all video types together, same for music, text, etc. The order was something like "apps, video, images, music, text" etc. But now in this new installation file types are arranged by alphabetical order instead of types, like "jpeg, text, webp " which mix images, videos, etc. How do I change this?

GPU-Z device list enumeration, device order?

Specifically, how are the the GPUs listed in the drop down sorted, or determined? Vendor and PCI ID? OS hardware device list? Other?

Sorry if this was answered somewhere already. Searching for "GPU LIST ORDER" and like terms were not helpful.

Change the alphabetical order for sorting folders

Do you want to make a particular item stay at the top of the list and everything else sort normally?

If so, that's a common request, but there's no "pin to top of list" capability in Explorer.

The way this is usually handled is to add a special character to the beginning of the name so it's first in the sort order. The underline character is commonly used for this. Example:

_Whatever

Aardvark

Bear

Cougar

Note: Instead of an underscore character, some people insert a special blank character by typing Alt-255. That looks better, but may cause you trouble in the future when copying, syncing, or renaming that item.
