    I am trying to diagnose why I get "login attempt failed" when creating an RDP session. Does the Event Log record the reason as to why the connection failed? can I get logs from the RDP client?It is possible I am using the wrong username, which user name should I be using for a microsoft linked account? Can I run something in powershell to find the exact username I need to use?

  2. RDP: failed to reconnect to your remote session after creators update

    Hi Guys,

    After the creators update last week, i'm unable to reconnect using RDP.

    I'm able to login in once via RDP. When i reconnect, the RDP client just gives the error: Failed to reconnect to your remote session.

    On the target machine, a corresponding error is logged in the event viewer:

    Event-ID: 4005 (qualifier: 49152)

    Message: The Windows log-on process has unexpectedly terminated.

    I'm able to physically login on the target machine, so it seems something practically wrong with RDP.

    Currently the machine is running version 1703 (build 15063.483) win 10 pro

    I’ve seen some posts with similar issues, which suggest following resolutions

    - to reset the font-scaling to 100% (as I’m running on 150%)

    - disable new loginUI via the registry key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\TestHooks\Threshold=0 (which didn’t exist). Also tried adding the key DUIMode=0
    and disabling XamlCredUIAvailable

    But unfortunate none of these suggestions seem to resolve the issue.

    I’ve also contact Support, which suggested to run a windows repair, which seems a last resort, and provides no guarantees this issue will be resolved. For reference they gave me this id: 1393780111

    Any suggestions are appreciated. If any important info is missing, please ask.

    I have a video wall with 10 screens and I am using windows 10 enterprise, I can't span an RDP session to another screen it seems to be locked to the main screen

    Server 2016 Essentials RDP session - no keyboard or mouse

    After installing the latest build 14393.rs1_release_inmarket.161014-1755 I'm having this problem.

    When reconnecting to a previously disconnected but running desktop session, after authentication I receive a black screen and shortly thereafter the session quits with the following error:

    "Failed to reconnect to your remote session.

    Please try to connect again."

    This behavior is the same with MS RDP client in both Windows 10 and Android MS RDP client version 4.2.

    If I connect from Linux the behavior is slightly different. Here I am able to connect to the session and see the desktop but I'm not able to get a response from keyboard or mouse. It's as if the session is not listening for input. The session remains
    alive (animations continue to update e.g. clock) until I disconnect.

    So far the only way I'm able to restore normal RDP session behavior is to reboot the server.
