Windows 10: how do i disable the screen that pops up on the left?

I would like to disable the screen that pops up when you tap or slide on the left of the screen. my daughter has a disability and inadvertently activates it when using her device, its intrusive to her learning.

Just to confirm, are you having the same issue? If so, kindly follow the troubleshooting steps below:

• Right-click on Start menu.
• Go to Device Manager and uninstall the Touchpad driver.
• Restart the computer and it should reinstall the driver automatically.
• If it doesn't reinstall automatically, download and install the latest Touchpad driver from the manufacturer's site.

Also, if you have a OneDrive icon on your taskbar, we suggest that you disable the automatic save of print screens.

If you wish to disable your touchpad, I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below.

• Press Windows Key +X.
• Select Device manager.
• Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
• Right click on Synaptic touchpad driver and select Disable.
• Click OK to confirm and check with the issue.

OSK popping up when disabled

1. What are the other troubleshooting steps that you tried to resolve this issue?

2. When exactly does the OSK pop-up?

3. Does the on-screen keyboard pop-up only when you touch the screen (text entry field like search box on the taskbar)?

4. If yes, did you follow the below steps and check?

1. Press Windows Key + W and type in Services and hit enter.

2. Scroll down for Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service and double click to open properties.

3. In the Startup type drop down menu select Disabled.

4. Under Service Status, if it is still running hit Stop.

5. Now click on Apply.
