Windows 10: How Do I Disable Windows Spotlight? Those Images Make Me Sick!!

I finally found out what this Microsoft "improvement" is called. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_SpotlightHere at my job our IT department said there is no way that they can disable those nightmarish jagged mountain and gorge and ocean scenes from appearing on my screen. I find them extremely sickening, and they disrupt my concentration when working on complex job assignments-like the one that's due Monday. Windows Spotlight broken, not downloading images

Yes, that was part of the 'fix' and Brink's tutorial does that (and more).

On it's own, I've never found it to be sufficient to fix a badly broken Spotlight. Back in 1607 I seriously broke Spotlight by some injudicious manual changes (I was trying to 'un-like' an image that had got stuck there until I got sick of seeing it). An in-place repair install was the only fix for that *Sad

There are multiple causes on why you're encountering this issue. To further troubleshoot the issue, we suggest that you disable and re-enable Spotlight. Simply follow the steps below:

• Right-click on the desktop and open Personalize.
• Open Lock Screen tab.
• Under Background, switch from Windows Spotlight to a Picture or the Slideshow.
• Click OK and close the Window.
• Now Log off and log in.
• Navigate to Lock screen and enable Windows Spotlight again.
