Windows 10: How do I either reset a childs password in MS Family, or add a passcode to the account?

I set up a child's MS account quite some time ago, and I have forgotten the password. When I try to log into my child's account, and hit "forgot password", it states that I can't reset it, and have to go to the MS account. I would thing as a parent, it shouldn't bee too hard to reset a child's password, but I've been working on this for days not, and can't find a way to do it. I also can't seem to find a way to set up a pin for him to log into, even though I've done so on another child's account.


Any help in fixing this would be appreciated.

How to reset child account password in family safety on win. 10 ?

If you are logged in using an Administrator Account and you have set up the child accounts using the same account, then you should be able to change their passwords.



You can follow these steps:

• Press Windows key + X and select Control Panel.
• Click on Family Safety and select the child account.
• On the left navigation pane, select Change Password.
• Follow the prompted instructions and check if the password is changed.

Microsoft Family Child Account Password

My daughter has a child account, she has forgotten her password.

There is nowhere to reset the password on the family account management screen.

The password reset does not work as 'not enough information' - she's 8 what info would you expect.

What is the point of the Family function if you can't manage Child accounts?

With half the world in lock-down & trying to home school their kids, surely this isn't the best MS can do????

 

Reset childs family account password by parent

Hello,

I created an account for my child and added to my family.

After granted access to a specific device and tried to log on with this account, we realised that we did not remember the password. We never signed in to microsoft account and when I tried to reset the password I realised that I could not. Microsoft asked
for things like previous passwords and contacts for an account that never logged in !!!

Am I missing something or a parent should have the ability to reset a small childs password easily?

Whare are all these bigs things that Microsoft claims to ease family access and children monitoring, when a parent cannot reset a password?

I spent hours trying to gain access for my child to its account and I end up with a message to wait for 24 hours.

This is not a national security issue. It is a simple child account. I am giving up. I expected from Microsoft to make life easier but it is making it harder and more complicated.
