Windows 10: How do I extend the range of my wifi adapter

Anytime I try to connect to a wifi the networks available do not show unless I bring the device close to the source of the network

Can't connect to Wifi without Netgear range extender

It sounds like you want to eliminate the Netgear Range Extender and connect directly to WiFi but your desktop computer does not have a WiFi adapter? If yes, I would suggest something like this: L-Link 1300Mbps Long Range USB WiFi Adapter for PC If you have a strong enough signal, it can plug directly into a USB port on the back or front of the computer. Or use can use the USB stand to position it somewhere where it might get a stronger signal.
