Windows 10: How do I find my product keys are used on which machines

I had purchased some product keys from the Microsoft Store back in 2016-17. I have been using those on Virtual Machines mostly. Sometimes I would destroy those VMs to create new ones. I am not able to use my product keys anymore. I keep getting an error that says the key is already used on another device. Error code 0xC004C008.How do I find which devices are using my product keys and then disassociate them all?Thanks.

Convert a Windows 8pro product key to a Windows 10pro produkt key

Thank you for contacting Microsoft community.

I suggest you to Uninstall the license using the following steps.

• Press Windows key + X
• Click Command Prompt (Admin)
• At the command prompt, type: slmgr.vbs -upk
• Press Enter, this will uninstall the product key from the computer.

Further on, install Windows 8.1 activate the copy with the product key on the new machine. Then again upgrade the same to Windows 10 using Window Update or Media Creation Tool.

Using the current device's product key on my another device.

On old PC:
Uninstall retail product key:

1. Disable secure boot(if turned on in BIOS)
2. Boot into Windows
3. Enter slmgr /upk and wait for this to complete. This will uninstall the current product key from Windows and put it into an unlicensed state.
4. Enter slmgr /cpky and wait for this to complete. This will remove the product key from the registry if it's still there.
5. Restart
6. Wait a little while and then use the retail key on the new machine.
7. Set up secure boot(recommended)

Your old machine should go back to home, or you might need to do a clean install, I'm not sure there.

 

using product keys on virtual machines

If i use a windows 10 product key, how can i remove the key so that i can use it on another device, do i simply delete the virtual machine?
