Windows 10: How do i fix my computer freezing when i use dual monitors

My laptop has this problem where sometimes when i'm using it together with an external monitor it will suddenly freeze up, but i can still hear audio and move my mouse. Waiting it out hasn't helped and the only way i've managed to unfreeze it without restarting is to press the sleep button although it takes a while for it to go to sleep. This never happens when i'm using the laptop by itself. System information Display drivers and windows are both up to date. How do i stop it from always freezing?

How to fix mirrored dual monitors?

So, one day, I go onto Netflix, play a game and suddenly my monitors freeze. I restarted my computer and now I have dual mirrored monitors. I don't know how to fix this.

 

Screen freeze after switching from dual monitor to single monitor

The freeze happens when I am switching from dual monitor to single monitor. I have updated drivers on my graphics card before to try and fix this problem. I have also disconnected my capture card before switching to single monitor(just the output to the switch and not the actual card to the USB port on my pc). I ONLY get this freeze from switching to single monitor from dual monitor and not during streaming.

I understand that you are unable to use Dual monitors on the computer after updating Radeon software. I’ll certainly assist you with the issue.



However, please let us know:

• Do you see the second monitor detected when you go to Display Settings?
  
• Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? Refer
  Which version of Windows operating system am I running?
  
• What is the Make and model of the computer?
  

If you do not see the second monitor in Display Settings, I would suggest you to click on Detect and see if the second monitor gets detected.



Since you are facing this issue after updating the Radeon software, you may want to try rolling back the driver and see if that helps.



To do this, refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Press Windows key + X, and select Device Manager.
2. Expand Display adapters.
3. Right click on the Radeon Driver and select Properties.
4. Navigate to the Driver tab and click on Roll Back Driver.
5. Restart the computer if prompted.
