Windows 10: How do I fix my PC crashing and showing static when I play stuff?

My new PC arrived today and so far I've had an issue where anytime I try to play a game, a few minutes it'll freeze, distort whatever audio was playing, and the entire screen will turn a solid color. Turning my monitor off and on again just results in static showing once I turn it back on. Why does this keep happening and how do I fix it? i have a i7-6700k cpu radeon 580 gpu and B150M-Power U3E1 motherboard

If another version works, it would be one set of steps.
If several other versions also fail/crash, then it would be another.

Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

 

Static/crackle noise when playing videos

Hi Max,

Since this only happens when using the Trackpad of your laptop, we suggest to check for any driver updates available for it. I've included the steps on how to check for updates below:

• Search for Device manager from the search bar and press Enter
• Click Mice and other pointing device (the name varies depending on the manufacturer)
• Double-click on Mouse or Trackpad
• Click the Driver tab
• Click Update Driver...
• Follow the steps provided and restart your PC.
