  1. How do I fix my permissions after LogMeIn Hamachi ruined them?

I am logged in as Ercs TomatoSalad, and if I run "whoami" on cmd it says that I am ***************/user, but if I try to delete or install something onto one of my hard drives, it says I require permission, and if I permit it, it says that I require permission from ***************/user. This all happened after I accidentally force-closed LogMeIn Hamachi while it was installing. It also says that I have 0 bytes of space left when I try to download anything on Steam, and after I tried installing Steam again, the same problem with permissions came up. I have also created another account with perm

I have also created another account with permissions, and the same happens. Also, afterward, I successfully downloaded LogMeIn Hamachi and connected to a friend. I disconnected from his PC, and then closed and uninstalled Hamachi.

  3. Logmein Hamachi - Failed to connect to the adapter

I have been successfully using Logmein Hamachi to connect to my office - from home.

Yesterday I started to get funny errors and could not connect either way.

I went through a long process to figure it out what was wrong with it.

I will describe everything I did, so that I get it all documented below, but also I would like to know what caused it - renaming the network adapter - could it have been done by AVG?

    the first error message was:
Ethernet does not have a valid IP configuration

I have run the following commands in powershell - one by one:

that worked because the error changed to:

I checked the firewall as I was getting the Traffic blocked, check firewall settings error message:

Inbound Traffic blocked, check firewall settings Solved : Step by step

    1. Go to windows firewall
    2. Advanced settings
    3. Windows firewall properties
    4. Public profile (if your hamachi network is public,or private profile if it's private)
    5. Protected Network connections
    6. Uncheck hamachi
    7. Done

the error message changed slightly so I went for
inbound traffic block, check firewall settings:

    1. Search "Firewall with Advanced Security" through Start Menu
    2. Click Inbound Rules
    3. Click New Rule on Left Hand Side
    4. Select Program
    5. Click Browse and find where Hamachi is Installed (if you're running 64 bit then there will be a x64 folder otherwise if you're running 32 bit you'll see it straight away)
    6. Click "hamachi-2-ui" and continue
    7. Change from "Block the connection" to "Allow the connection"
    8. You can decide whether this rule applies to all 3 (i reccomend all 3 though)
    9. Name the rule "Hamachi" or whayever you want. description is optional
    10. Do step 3-9 with Outbound Rules instead

    Still on the Firewall topic:
How do I configure a firewall to work with LogMeIn?

    LogMeIn Components

Add the following LogMeIn components to the allowed list in your firewall configuration:

    1. LogMeIn.exe
    2. LogMeInSystray.exe
    3. LogMeInRC.exe
    4. LMIGuardian.exe
    5. raabout.exe
    6. ramaint.exe

    Note:
These files can normally be found in the LogMeIn installation folder under:
    %programfiles%\LogMeIn\x86 (x64 for 64-bit OS).

the error again changed - complained about the network adapter not being found:

I had a look at the Device manager - the LogmeIN Hamachi should be there as a network adapter. I even disabled it and re-enabled it back, checked for drives updates.

    then the message changed again:
Failed to connect to the adapter.

and while following the instructions on the link below
This indicates the failure of the Hamachi network adapter.

most of which I had already done, I noticed my Network Connection was not called Hamachi anymore, and as soon as I renamed it and restarted the Hamachi service all started to work fine again.

    Question:

Could it have been teh AVG that renamed my Network Connection to something different than Hamachi and caused all the nightmare above?

If so how to prevent this annoyance to happen again?

    Hamachi and preview builds

Seems like every preview build completely resets the networking components. So after a installing 10565 build, I had to uninstall / reinstall logmein hamachi to get it to work again.

Funny thing, the disk cleanup tool could not completely remove the windows.old folder created by the preview install. Apparently a hamachi driver was in use. I uninstalled hamachi again, did the disk cleanup, and re-installed. That worked.

Moral of the story, uninstall hamachi before installing a preview build. This may affect any other VPN or custom network apps you use.
