    How do I fix my Windows 10 file structure?


    I want to use OneDrive as a backup for my PC. So, I want to put my files in my “Documents” system file and turn on OneDrive syncing. However, I don’t’ have enough space on my C Drive, so I want to move the “Documents” directory to my F:\ Drive and point OneDrive to that drive. The steps I attempted were as follows:Added “Desktop” to OneDrive SyncMoved OneDrive to F:\Moved “Documents” to F:\ I used the "move" function on the "Document Properties" window in File ExplorerFiles in the “Documents” folder ended up spread out among other files and folders in F:\ which is not what

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    File structure of windows 10

    The Windows file and folder structure is exactly what you make it. When transferring pictures from one machine to the other then a simple way goes like this:

    1. Drag the various folders from the old PC to a flash disk.
    2. Connect the flash disk to the new PC.
    3. Drag the flash disk folders into your Pictures library.
    In this way you end up with exactly the same folder structure as you had on the old PC.

    What is Normal File Structure in Windows 10?

    I am new to Windows 10 and have noticed what seems to be a strange file structure. A click on File Explorer generates this list:

    Quick Access

    Dropbox

    OneDrive

    This PC

    WD Disk(L)

    Network

    Homegroup

    Under WD Disk(L) there is a subfolder named WD Disk(L) and as one might expect the contents in the two folders are identical.

    WD Disk(L) is an external backup disk.

    Is this file structure normal with Windows 10 and if it is I will live with it.
