    How do I fix, my windows defender is all black and not working.


    Hello, I tried linking my school account to my pc so I can access Microsoft 365, and then I guess it was a bug because the Microsoft defender wasn't working even when I remove the account. I tried the exe provided by staff to fix but that did not work.

    The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

    Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.

    How to fix Windows Defender from not working

    Hi Johnny,

    The system is infected by a miner. The rogue script has deleted your Defender Firewall driver and probably your antivirus binaries.

    First, please run this fixlist:

    • Download fixlist.txt
    • Save Fixlist.txt in the same folder where FRST64English.exe is.
    • Close all program windows.
    • Launch the Farbar Scanner tool and click "Fix".
    • Restart Windows when prompted.
    • Upload the output log file (FixLog.txt) to your OneDrive.

    That should remove the malware.

    Next, open admin Command Prompt and run:

    • dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

    and

    • sfc /scannow

    Restart Windows.

    See if Defender works fine.

    If that doesn't help, download the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool and do a repair installation.
