Windows 10: How do I fix my windows update from not downloading any updates?

My windows update hasn't installed any updates at all for a while now I have kinda just brushed it off my shoulder however when I try to update by pressing retry it tends to not do anything at all but say downloading and then going back to saying retry I also have another problem with my microsoft store and I cant download anything from microsoft store I do believe it has something to do with the windows updates not installing.

FIXED!! Windows 7 sp1 never ends searching for updates

They made it part of the WU client then, or it's two different things doing the same. Too bad you can't download it separately.

Pros:

• No need for a script, easy to apply manually
  
• Much smaller download, seems that KB3020369 is not required, only SP1 is needed

Cons:

• Windows Update Client downloaded by the script is newer (June 2016 version is included in KB3172605 instead of March 2016)
• You will still need to download/install hundreds of updates afterwards, most of them are already included in KB3125574 and installed by the script

Ah.
Probably the issue I had with windows media format runtime security update for WMP 9.5 & 11 downloading but not installing.

I fixed it by typing something into the command prompt which I think reset the update.
