Windows 10: how do I fix network sharing where computer is visible under File Explorer but not correct...

Have 3 laptops. New Lenovo2022 can be shared for file sharing, etc. but other PCs only get a name when using File Explorer selecting Network. i.e., you click on the Computer name and Users come up. Click on that and ONLY Default shows. NOT the Public or personal User that shows on that individual computer using File Explorer, Netork. Thus, the folders I need to share are under the personal user, NOT default. In summary, say A is new computer and on A using File Explorer NETWORK, A Shows with Users Default, Public, and a personal one that was customized to give all files and folders for that sp

Network Computer not visible in local network folder

Long time lurker first time poster ... because usually I can find a solution to my problem by searching this forum.

I need some help, I have a Windows 10 network (all Enterprise 21H2), five computers named PC_1, PC_2 etc .... I can access shared folders on all five from any and all of them, sharing works without any issue and they all show up in the Network folder in explorer except on PC_3. It lists all 4 of the others, just not itself. I have searched this forum and used google to try to find a solution, but everything I find is for fixing sharing issues, which is not a problem.
Any suggestions ... Thanks!

 

Computers Vanished From File Explorer But Network Still Works

I agree with @Try3. I have tried every suggested method to fix Windows networking suggested on these forums. All at best only worked for a short time. The only things that helped was:

1. Batch file I suggested in an earlier post
2. Creating shortcuts to computers on my home network

Note these two things are not fixes but workaround. However, at least they help and have never failed.

I have shortcuts set up for eight computers on my home network. I have created a folder on my desktop called My Network to hold the shortcuts. They have a mix of the following operating systems:

• Windows 10 - 4
• Windows 7 - 3
• Windows XP - 1

 

Some shared computers not visible in File Explorer

Hi Samuria and thanks for your response. I had all three computers configured this way just temporarily because I was trying to debug another problem. I wasn't aware of the potential confusion you mentioned because I had "assumed" that Windows would be smart enough to tell the "c" shares apart simply based on the different names of the computers themselves. However, apparently I was wrong because as soon as I gave each drive a different share name I could see all the computers in File Explorer.

Since you're obviously knowledgeable in this area, maybe you can help me with the initial problem I was trying to debug and about which I posted previously. In case you didn't see my posting, I also have a WDTV media player connected to my network that only requires an ID and PW to access. It is listed on all three of my computers in the File Explorer "Media Devices" category, but only on one of the computers in the "Computers" category. The media player has a USB drive attached that I need to access but it is only accessible via the "Computers" category. There are no settings in the player that determine which devices are allowed to access it. The media player used to be visible and accessible in the "Computers" group of all three of my computers but for some reason it just disappeared from two of them one at a time . The computer on which it is still visible is a new install, so I expect it will eventually disappear from it too :-( Any debugging ideas?
