    How do I fix the ”preparing automatic repair” screen?


    I was using my laptop the other day until this blue screen showed up. A few minutes after the blue screen showed up I was met with a screen that says preparing automatic repair. This situation has been on my laptop for two days. I looked in the community and support pages to see if there was any other people who had the situation, and all the methods I saw did not help me. When the blue screen shows up, I do not see a troubleshooting or advanced options button to press. I am using an HP laptop model 15-dw2025cl on Windows 11.     Black Screen after "preparing automatic repair"

    Yesterday, my HP Envy 17 j177nr was working flawlessly. However, today I was experiencing lots of lags and freezes to the point where the laptop is unusable

    I decided to power off and on three times to attempt some kind of repair. However, after it says "preparing automatic repair" I ALWAYS get a black screen, no cursor, no nothing. It does NOT move beyond that black screen. It will stay at that black screen all day if I let it.

    I tried ALL steps on the internet to fix it, including removing all peripherals including the power cord and battery and holding the power button for 30 second which everybody says that fixes the problem—except it DOES NOT for me. It still goes into "preparing automatic repair" and to that black screen afterwards.

    I ran the HP HDD and memory test and all pass with flying colors.

    Does anybody know how to fix this?

    How long did you leave the "Preparing automatic repair" screen on for? Some times these steps can take some time to carry out and it may need leaving on overnight to complete.

    "Preparing Automatic Repair"

    I updated my Toshiba Satellite laptop including the Microsoft Edge Update for Windows 10. I have the "Preparing Automatic Repair" problem.

    The "Preparing Automatic Repair" screen is flashing.

    I do not want to lose any of the data that I have on the laptop by restoring and reinstalling Windows 10. The laptop initially came with a Windows 7 operating system. Then, it was upgraded to Windows 8 and then Windows 10.

    Can you recommend the steps to take for this specific laptop?
