Windows 10: how do i fix the s-mode error "try that again something went wrong on our end waiting a bit...

Every time I switch out of s-mod I pops up an error saying "try that again something went wrong on our end waiting a bit might help" but it's always pops up.

Hello I have windows 10 on my surface pro 3 and out of the blue started getting this error code and now cannot download/update apps: Something went wrong on our end. Wait a bit then try again. The error code is 0x80240438. Its been a few days. Any tips?

 

Error: Something went wrong when installing State of Decay 2 from Microsoft Store

I purchased SoD2 UD for a friend.

He tried installing it and got the "something wrong on our end" message.

We waited a day, same error.

We waited a couple of days, same error.

We then found a healthy list of things to try, no love.

We got the idea of booting into safe mode as we were finding apps active that were stopping us from completing one of the indicated steps. Now he can't log on to the MS Store at all!

Please help.

I am able to install app that owned by me but for new apps still got Something happened at our end. Waiting a bit might help
