Windows 10: How do I fix the search box and saved searches?

Hi,


I have a laptop running Windows 10 and went on it today to sort some photos out and do some work. I have a saved search for JPG files which I use to find all my photos. When I clicked on it today though it first said 'no items match your search' (I have a lot of photos) and then after I went to a folder with some of my photos in it, those photos (and only those ones) turned up in the saved search. I tried just using the search box itself with the same result and this gave me the same thing when I did a DOC search too (*.doc)...just recent files. I don't want recent files, I want all the files.


I rebuilt the index and that did not fix it, I ran the troubleshooter, sfc and DISM and none of these things fixed my problem. I was hoping to get a lot done today but can't now because of this problem. Has it got something to do with the latest update? because I have never met this problem before. I did not use Cortana for any of these searches.


Please help.

  Right click on the task bar.
  
• 
  Go to Cortana.
  
• 
  Click on show search box.
  

Now check if you are able to find search box.

Which is why I suggested he try there instead. TPU is too limited of a user base to search here alone for anything gaming related.

I would suggest you to run search and indexing troubleshooter
and check. Please follow these steps:

• Right click on Start and select Control panel.
• Find troubleshooting and click on it.
• Click "View all" and then click "Search and Indexing".
  
  Click "Next" and follow on-screen instructions.
