Windows 10: How do I fix the Windows Configuration Update KB5035942 file explorer glitch

I've noticed that each time Windows Configuration Update KB5035942 is installed my file explorer becomes glitchy/studdering and makes it hard to open any folders on the drop down. I've also noticed that while I'm gaming it's causing an FPS spike up and down similar to the same timing of the file explorer glitch, so it makes gaming a challenge.This first started in January of 2025 around the 12th I think when an update rolled in, then I saw another Windows Configuration update about a week ago that cleared this issue, but now Windows Configuration Update KB5035942 is back as of the 25th an

Thanks for your suggestions. I had previously tried the Troubleshooter and SFC & DISM steps. I read about Microsoft update KB5036567, which claims to fix issues related to KB5035942. I downloaded it from the Microsoft Catalog, and used the command dism /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:"CAB location" to install the update. The dism ran very quickly and indicated success. I restarted my PC but do not see KB5036567 in the update history list. So I'm not sure if I really installed the update, especially given how quickly the dism ran.

I don't use Internet Explorer, I meant the thing where you can look at files etc. Hotkey Windows+E. Maybe it's the wrong name in english though. *Stick Out Tongue

are you running IE7? if not that wouold be my first suggestion,upgrade to ie7 that can fix some stability issues with windows explorer
