  1. How do I Force UDP Transport Protocol in Remote Desktop Connection in Windows 11?

There was another similar thread asked 2 years ago, but with no specific instructions on modifying registry.https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/how-to-force-rdp-to-use-udp-windows-11/8da8d4ef-57ac-4e16-8506-ab40ce380cefIs there a way to force RDP to use UDP? If so, how?Previous thread mentioned about enabling protocol 8.0 but it's not seen in W11 anymore.

  2. How to force RDP to use UDP Windows 11?

    Hey blue

I had the same problem a couple months ago. What you want to is Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Remote Session Environment. Enable Remote Desktop Protocol 8.0 set to Enabled. Then Remote Desktop Session Host > Connections. Select RDP Transport Protocols set to Use both UDP and TCP

  3. Remote desktop client broken on Windows 11 after update

Hello Anumeet, how are you doing?

    Welcome to the Microsoft community!

I'm glad to be able to assist you at this time.

    --

I understand your frustration with the persistent Remote Desktop issue on Windows 11. It's unfortunate that this problem has been ongoing, even after you've attempted various fixes that have been suggested online.

Considering the steps you've already taken, such as trying the UDP Fix and consulting your work's Consulting company, it's clear that the issue is specific to Windows 11 on your laptop. Since you've ruled out problems with your work computer by successfully using another Windows 10 machine for remote access, the focus should indeed be on resolving the Windows 11-related problem.

    -

While I don't have an immediate fix to offer, I can provide some additional suggestions that might help:

    1.Check System Updates.

In addition to Windows Update, ensure your laptop's drivers and firmware are up to date, as outdated components can cause unexpected issues.

    -

    2.Disable hardware acceleration.

This is a known fix for some users. To do this, open the Remote Desktop app's Settings > Show advanced settings. Uncheck "Use hardware acceleration" and click OK.

    -

3.Change the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) version.

To do this, open the Remote Desktop app and go to Settings > Show advanced settings. Select a different RDP version from the drop-down list and click OK.

    -

4.Set a static IP address for your remote computer.

This can help to resolve connection problems. To do this, open the Network Connections window and right-click on your remote computer's connection. Select Properties and go to the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) tab. Enter a static IP address in the IP address and Subnet mask fields. Click OK to save your changes.

    -

    5.Reinstall the Remote Desktop app.

To do this, open the Start menu and search for Remote Desktop. Right-click on the app and select Uninstall. Once the app is uninstalled, restart your computer and reinstall it from the Microsoft Store.

    -

If you have tried all of these fixes and you are still having problems, try connecting to your remote computer from a different computer to see if the problem is with your computer or with your remote computer.

    -

Remote Desktop problems can be intricate, but solutions often emerge over time. I understand the urgency and hope these suggestions will help restore your remote work functionality. Keep in mind that technology evolves and solutions may emerge with time.

Additionally, it's worth noting that Microsoft is aware of the Remote Desktop issue in Windows 11 and is actively working on a solution.
