Windows 10: How do I get my Disk Drive to initialize again?

After attempting to play DMC 5 on steam with an Xbox controller with a USB, my computer froze and crashed. After booting my pc back up, my E drive was missing. I found out how to find it in "my pc" storage and disk management, but I'm unable to initialize it in either way due to a "fatal hardware error". The worst part is, it works every now and again for like fifteen minutes before going back to being inoperable.

I was able to figure it out after A LOT of google searching.

First had to see what virtualdisks were listed then remove them.

Get-VirtualDisk

Remove-VirtualDisk -FriendlyName <name>

Then get and remove the storage pool

Get-StoragePool -FriendlyName "name"

Remove-StoragePool

After that, I was able to initialize like it was a new disk.

 

Save RAW drive - Don't want data


Open Admin command prompt, then type:

1. diskpart
2. list disk ======> Take note of disk # of the RAW drive
3. select disk # ======> is the number in step 2
4. clean
5. exit

Open Disk Management and initialize it, Create Simple, format.

Method 1: I would suggest you first try the Troubleshooter.

Please follow the steps below:

  Type “Troubleshooting” on the Windows Search bar and hit enter.

  On the left side of the Troubleshooting window, click on “View all”
  
• 
  Click on Hardware and Devices. Please provide a password if asked for it and click ok.
  

Method 2:

• 
  Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.
  
• 
  Expand the Sound, Video and game controllers.
  
• 
  Right-click on the Disk Drives and click on Properties.
  
• 
  Go to the Drivers Tab and Click Enable (If not enabled).
  
• 
  Restart the computer and check.
