Windows 10: How do I get my network stuff to work?

So I just installed windows 11 onto an external hard drive as portable windows so i can use it on a pc i just built but when I get to the network stuff there's nothing there and even though the ethernet is connected to the pc with the hard drive connected to the pc aswell it shows as not connected and when I try to install driver I get "something went wrong" so I looked it up and found a decent solution by using the command prompt with the command I was using looking like this. "Pnputil /add-driver C:\*.inf and it says there is a driver package but it failed to install saying the style of inf

Did our Epson printer get hacked?

Another question, is this on a home network or a work network? The steps @eidairaman1 listed are always a good first step. If this is on a work network you manage, I'd be much more concerned than the home one. It is possible someone is screwing with you, but malware could also be the culprit.

 

Computers Vanished From File Explorer But Network Still Works

I agree with @Try3. I have tried every suggested method to fix Windows networking suggested on these forums. All at best only worked for a short time. The only things that helped was:

1. Batch file I suggested in an earlier post
2. Creating shortcuts to computers on my home network

Note these two things are not fixes but workaround. However, at least they help and have never failed. I have shortcuts set up for eight computers on my home network. I have created a folder on my desktop called My Network to hold the shortcuts. They have a mix of the following operating systems:

• Windows 10 - 4
• Windows 7 - 3
• Windows XP - 1
