I recently got out an old laptop to see if I could factory reset it and get it to work somewhat well, compared to how it was - bogged down with unused programmes and personal files and the like.I carried out a factory reset: Open Settings.Click on Update & Security.Click on Recovery.Under the "Reset this PC" section, click the Get started button.I opted for not keeping any files. I confirmed the reset, let it be, came back a while later, and noticed that it was stuck in a loop: black screen, Samsung logo, spinny loading dots under logo, black screen, etc.I turned i

    Boot loop

    Hi Terri,

This issue occurs when there are broken components on the boot configuration data of your system. To troubleshoot your boot loop issue, we suggest that you boot in
    safe mode through the Windows
    Recovery
Environment option. To do this, follow these steps:

    • Turn on your computer. When the Windows logo appears, unplug and replug the device. Perform these steps three times.
    • On the fourth instance, turn on your device without unplugging it. The Windows Recovery Environment window will appear.
    • On the Choose an option screen, click Troubleshoot.
    • Click Advance options.
    • Click Startup Settings.
    • Click Restart.
    • Once your computer restarts, you will see a list of options. Press the F4 key to start your computer in
      safe mode.

Once done, we suggest that you perform a system restore after booting in safe mode. System Restore will be able to revert your PC or laptop to their previous state, which can be used to repair and recover system malfunctions or issues. Restoring won’t affect
your personal files, but it will remove apps, drivers, and updates installed after the restore point was made. To do this, follow the steps below:

    1. Right-click the Start button, and then select
    Control Panel.

    2. Search Control Panel for
    Recovery.

    3. Select Recovery > Open
    System Restore > Next.

    4. Choose the restore point related to the problematic
app, driver, or update, and then select
    Next > Finish.

Feel free to post back if you need further assistance.

    laptop doesnt boot automatically

    This is what happened.

    1. Did a repair install and later disabled hibertnate in CMD.
    2. Enabled legacy option ROM in BIOS.
    3. After a few times startup ( i used the system in such mode for 5 days), changed boot option back to default.
    4. Vola!! It boots automatically to win10 without any keypress. Tested it with many starts to confirm the same.
    5. Re-enabled hibernate option using CMD and later selected Fast Startup.
    6. System booted normally, without the need for any keypress.

I do not know exactly whether such steps resolved the problem or what else happened, hence cannot suggest above steps.

Many thanks to all members who helped to troubleshoot problems.

How do I get my samsung laptop out of a loop when booting up?

Samsung Chronos 7 laptop boot/reboot loop after installing Windows 10 1709

I reinstalled Windows 10 Enterprise from the v1709 ISO, applied a number of Windows updates and installed some applications. All went well. Then (I think) I left it on, and it went into sleep mode till the next day.

Then I switched it back on, and as soon as it displayed the Samsung logo (and the F2 to setup bar along the bottom of the screen), it just rebooted again straight away. It keeps doing this indefinitely.

I can get to the BIOS settings by pressing F2 at the right moment, and I can change the settings. However, as soon as I hit F10 to save and restart, it's back in the boot/reboot loop.

    What I've tried/discovered:

    • With a bootable USB drive plugged in, it prompts to press a key to boot off the USB drive. If I ignore the prompt, it boots normally into the installed Windows (not the USB Windows setup) and is then fine until the next reboot, when it enters the same loop unless I leave the USB stick plugged in.
    • I've tried starting it up with a completely blank SSD as the main boot drive - symptoms are the same.
    • I've now installed Windows 10 v1803 on a completely separate SSD. Symptoms the same.

What can I do to break the cycle?

    Edit:

I've now downloaded and installed the latest BIOS for the laptop using the Samsung BIOS updater.

Symptoms still almost the same - after two reboot cycles, I get a different menu, prompting me to select either the SSD or the DVD to boot from. Selecting SSD just returns to the original cycle.

Whereas as before, booting with a USB stick inserted, and ignoring the prompt to boot from it, gets me into Windows which seems to perform normally.
