Windows 10: How do I get my webcam to show up

I am using Windows 10 and it is up to date.


If I click on the camera in the list, it shows "We can't find your camera" with error code 0xa00f4244


If I go to settings and privacy and camera, it shows that "Camera access for this device is on". Skype is an allowed app for the camera, but it isn't showing up anywhere.


In the Device manager, There is no list of camera under imaging or under sound for a camera. But I can see it on the laptop itself.


My husband's computer, which is identical to mine, has one and mine has the same device centered in the top edge of the laptop.


I have updated Windows. I ran the troubleshooter app, and it ran for at least 30 minutes and never found anything.


The manufacturer is no longer making laptops for individuals. It is a Lotus Windows 10 unit. At one point, and I can't remember where I saw it, it said the Camera was disabled. But I can't find where that was, and I can't figure out how to enable it.


Somewhere I found a Realtek RTL8723, but I don't see it listed in the device manager.

Webcam had disappeared

The webcam may have stopped working due to hardware failure, or a loose cable that connects it to the device’s motherboard. We suggest that you try to show hidden devices in
Device Manager by following these steps:

• Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
• Click on the View tab and select Show hidden devices.
  

If you are seeing the webcam drivers, uninstall them. Then restart your device to check if Windows will be able to recognize the webcam and will install the drivers.

• Run the troubleshooter for Windows apps.
• Install the driver using the compatibility mode.

USB Webcam showing as Hidden in Device Manager

Hi,

Firstly apologies for not getting back sooner but I've been on holiday for a couple of weeks and didn't have access to my PC.

I'm trying to check whether the webcam is blocked or not by following your instructions. I've followed Step 1 and 2 OK as requested. Your step 3 implies to me that I should now see a list of blocked apps in a box. However when I click on
Allow an app through Windows Firewall what I get is a list of the allowed Apps and Features rather than a list of Blocked Apps. I cannot see webcam or anything similar in the list of allowed apps.

Did I follow your steps correctly. Am I missing something here?

Webcam is still classed as hidden in Device manage and the Camera App still cannot see it.
