Windows 10: How do I get my wired headset to show as both an input and output device?

I have a HyperX headset that I want to use for gaming, but I can't get my PC to recognize it as both an input and output audio device. my PC has two audio jacks; one for a microphone and one for headphones. My sound systems will show my headset as either an output or input, depending on which audio jack I plug them into. How do I get my wired headset to show as both an input and output device?

How to use headset as an output and input device at the same time?

My pc has 4 jacks, 1 for a headset, 1 for a microphone and 2 for external devices (I think it’s called a line-in). My headset has a microphone attached and I’m wondering what jack should i put it into? When I put it in the headphone jack, I can’t use the mic and when I put it in the microphone jack, I can’t hear anything. Is there anyway to use my headset for listening to my pc and using the mic without buying any connector cables? When I plug into the headphone jack, it comes up on output devices, but for input devices nothing shows. When i plug into the microphone jack it comes up on input devices & nothing shows up for output devices. I tried to download an application “Voicemeeter banana” and ASIO4ALLv2 driver and it came up in both my input and output devices but when i tried the mic jack i couldn’t hear and the mic didn’t work when i used the headphone jack.

 

HFP devices no longer show as audio input or audio output devices (Win11)

All of my HFP Bluetooth devices are no longer available as audio input or output devices. A2DP devices still show as audio output devices.

I've tried:

• unpairing and repairing BT devices (Sony MDR-ZX770BN and a custom ESP32-based device)
  
• removing all BT devices (including hidden devices) from Device Manager, including the RFCOMM and SDP services and Intel wireless driver, etc. and reinstalling
  
• removing the Audio devices (Realtek) and reinstalling
  
• sfc /scannow (no problems found)
  
• checked registry Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Bluetooth\Audio\Hfp\AudioGateay and ..\HandsFree and both show registry value Enabled=1 (not that I've seen any diagnostic ever suggest checking these keys)
  
• pairing my headphones to a Win10 laptop, which works fine, and audio input/output devices allow me to select HFP (also A2DP)
  checking the headphones under "Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers", I can confirm under "Bluetooth Services" the headphones show Audio Sink, and Hands-free Telephony, so SDP has discovered the HFP profile correctly
  
• my ESP32 device also has SPP (serial port) which works fine, and the headphones can use A2DP just fine, so Windows can use the other BT profiles on these devices
  
• running troubleshooter for Audio Input and Audio Output devices - the troubleshooter finds nothing, and doesn't even list the HFP device as an audio device
  

HFP was working OK before Christmas. At some point since then all HFP devices no longer show as audio input/recording sources or output sources.

My laptop is a Lenovo Thinkpad L15 gen 3, roughly 1 year old. Windows and drivers are all up-to-date.

 

No input device found, output device not working.

I've only received this computer today, and so far the default input and output devices have not been working at all. With only the output (not input) device on my headset working.
