Windows 10: How do I get older CD games to run on Windows 10?

I purchased a copy of NHL 2004 a few days ago and I can't get it to start after installation. Any suggestions?

I was feeling nostalgic so I found some old games I used to play as a child on CD and was wondering if they'd still run on such a new computer. I'm currently running windows 10 and the games list the following as what platforms they run on according to their
Amazon sellers:

The first game: Windows 7 / Vista / XP / Me / 2000

The second game: Windows 95 / 98 / Me / 2000

The third game: Windows XP

Would I still be able to run these games without having to download something like an emulator? I'm kind of scared to download those things since I heard a lot about viruses. Is there a way to make them run without one?

I suggest you to install the games in compatibility mode and check if it works.

Follow the below steps:

1. Right click on the setup file and select Properties.

2. Select Compatibility tab.

3. Check Run this program in Compatibility mode.

4. Let the game install and then check the functionality.
