Windows 10: How do I get rid of new Photos app and keep only Photos Legacy?

I'm not a fan of the new Photos app that was forced on everyone and downloaded Photos Legacy. But every time I plug my phone in to charge, or boot my my machine, Photos app launches and tries to download pictures from my phone or OneDrive. It fails, because I've disabled all that. But it still launches to show it failed. And it appears uninstalling Photos also uninstalls Photos Legacy. Can I remove Photos while keeping Photos Legacy the ideal solution? Alternatively, can I block Photos from every launching second best solution?

I have downloaded this, and it did not work; photo viewer is not in the list of programs in Open With or Default App. I used option 2 step 3, followed by step 5 to 9.

Seems like a new question so I split it out as a new thread

From my personal experience and testing, the storage location of "Photo Legacy" is different from that of your New "Photo app". Here are their detailed paths:

"Photo Legacy" is usually located at: C:\Users\User Name\Pictures or C:\Users\User Name\OneDrive\pictures

PS: The second path will appear if you have OneDrive linked to the Photo Legacy app.

New "Photo app" is usually located at: C:\Users\User Name\Pictures\Camera Roll

Even if you uninstall New "Photo app" it will not affect the storage location of Photo Legacy, which should answer your question“if I removed the new Photo app( using PowerShell) would saved Camera video's go back to Camera roll ” The two applications are independent.

Just speaking from my personal experience, I prefer Photo Legacy because it can freely add the location of folders and provide OneDrive synchronization, and it is clear at a glance in your app's setting.

This will improve the stability of the data, and there will be no situation like "Presentation suddenly disappearing and reappearing in the Camera Roll folder."

Photos Legacy Stuck at "Looking for new photos and videos".

Thanks for the help but it seems like the app didn't crash it's still running it just won't proceed to the next stage to import photos. I have a habit of importing the photos through the Photo Legacy app and delete them straight away. So I would like to know what other step I could take.
