Windows 10: How do I get rid of the thin line at the top of Snip & Sketch screenshot?

When I use the Snip & Sketch tool to highlight my entire screen, there's a thin line at the top-middle of the screenshot from the menu that pops up before taking the screenshot still on the screenshot itself. It's hard to see but if you zoom in you can see it's there.Is there any way to make sure this doesn't happen? It happens even when I click fullscreen snipExample image:

Now, before it's asked: This isn't a hardware problem. When I used other screenshotting platforms, the lines weren't there at all. This line ONLY shows up in screenshots captured by the Snip & Sketch app.

Here are some pictures. The line is at the center-top.









See that black and blueish-purple line in that one spot? You may have to zoom in. It isn't there on my physical monitor and only shows up when using Snip & Sketch. I've tried reinstalling it, deleting and reinstalling, scanning my PC health, restarting my laptop (I've shut down my laptop every night for the past two or so years I've had it), updating my drivers, etc.

Does anyone know how to fix this? It's very bizarre and I feel like I've tried everything.

 

Snip and Sketch Awkward

Use Windows+shift+s to launch Snip and Sketch. Can snip a screenshot.

Now the problem is this: after snipping the screen shot, it does not automatically appear in the Snip and Sketch app. So I open Snip and Sketch and there's nothing on it.

So I have choose 'new' and snip the screen yet again.

I recall using this once and taking a screenshot and voila! Snip and Sketch appeared with the screen shot duly in the app's workspace, ready for annotations and saving etc. This facility has disappeared. I have re-set it according to instructions, and even
reinstalled it - yet the problem persists.

It sounds like a black and blueish-purple line displays on the screenshot you took by the Snip & Sketch on Windows 10. Sorry to hear this. Based on your sensible troubleshooting, the cause of this issue can also be an incompatible graphics driver or third-party software intervention.

You can try to take the following steps to troubleshoot further.

1. Try to use the Windows+Shift+S hotkey to take a screenshot and observe the result.

2. Select the Start button, then select Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates. If there is an available update, select Install now.

3. Roll the graphics driver back.

Press Windows + X and open the Device Manager > Expand the Display Adapter > Right-click on your graphics driver and select Properties > Click Rollback device.

4. Perform a clean boot on your system.

Temporarily close the third-party security programs and optimization software that may exist under the system (with a firewall nature) > Press and hold Windows+R > Enter: msconfig > Hit Enter > Click on Services > Check to hide Microsoft services > Click Disable All > Reboot the device, and confirm if the problem solved.

Disclaimer: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem. These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by-step so that it will help you get you back on track.

5. Restore your PC to a Restore point if you have set one when your Windows ran well.

• Open the Control Panel > Type: recovery > Select Recovery > Open System Restore > In the Restore system files and setting box, select Next > Select the restore point that you want to use in the list of results, and then select Scan for affected programs.
  

• You'll see a list of items that will be deleted if you remove this restore point. If you're OK with the deletions, select Close > Next > Finish.
  

If the problem still persists, try to open the Snip & Sketch App > Click the 3 dots(...) on the right upper part > click Send Feedback to share your concern to the Snip & Sketch team, the engineers will investigate the issue and consider improves it.
