    How do I get rid of the Weird black line on my laptop display


    There is this wired black line on my house Chromebook and on the other side of the line is a zoomed up copy of what I'm actually doingI can't get rid of it and would please need help! Computer hp Chromebook osversion 126.0.6478.222 official built, 64-bit

    Black Line On Screen....What is It ?

    Basically that is either dead pixels or possibly a loose connection to the display panel. There are no new drivers from Toshiba/Dynabook, those faded out about 8 years ago. There will only be one driver listed probably for Windows 8, subsequent Graphics driver updates have come from Windows updates. "there are quite a few driver updates available.....is it good practice to install ALL of them". If you are refering to via Windows updates, yes. However that should have been done over the years. "and the solid black line has now changed to a faint broken line, and turned GREEN.....weird or what ?" Nothing weird as the sub pixels are red/green/blue. Thus it means red and blue sub pixels are faulty thus only green showing. The no cost option is to open up the Laptop and check on Display connectors. An expensive display panel replacement for such an old Laptop is not really worth it.

    Black line in laptop display

    My laptop shows a small black line about 2cm x 2mm that does not move. If I connect the laptop to an external monitor that line does not show up. Guess it is time to look for a new laptop? *cry Maybe I can find something on Cyber Monday.

    Black line in laptop display

    If the black line is in your LCD, you just need a replacement screen. Now if you laptop is over 5 years old. You can look for a new one.
